Mike koscinski

Hoopers Basketball Club President & Head Boys Basketball Coach at Riverside H.S.

Coach Koscinski's Bio

Michael Koscinski’s journey in basketball is a testament to mentorship and the transformative power of the game. As President of East Coast Hoopers Basketball Club and Head Boys' Basketball Coach at Riverside High School in Leesburg, Virginia, his path is marked by a deep passion for basketball and a commitment to instilling that love in his players.

Inspired by mentors after losing his father at a young age, and influenced by the teamwork and selflessness of the Larry Bird-era Boston Celtics, Coach Koscinski built his coaching philosophy on these values. He began his career with summer basketball camps in the Northeast, gaining extensive experience and attending numerous national and regional clinics.

Coach Koscinski pursued a degree in sports management and served as a team manager for Springfield College’s Division II men’s basketball program. He then coached a high school freshman team in Massachusetts, earning a reputation for player development and teamwork.

Advancing his career, he became the Director of Athletics & Student Activities at a 7-12 school in Vermont. With 12 years of experience as a Freshman, JV, and Varsity Assistant Coach, he took over the Park View High School basketball program in 2008, leading it through significant transitions. He later contributed to a district championship team at Stone Bridge High School.

As the inaugural head coach at Riverside High School, he led the team to district and regional titles in 2019 and a state tournament appearance in 2020. The 2022 season was historic, with the team winning their first-ever state game and advancing to the state final four.

Turning to club coaching to support his son and teammates, Coach Koscinski co-founded the East Coast Hoopers Basketball Club with Coach Walker, providing effective and economical training and fostering team play.
